Letter from the Commissioner

The past two decades have been a time of incredible growth for the Texas wine industry, one of the fastest growing agriculture sectors in the Lone Star State. With an estimated economic impact of more than $1.7 billion dollars to Texas, the reputation and continued success of our industry rests with every stakeholder involved in the process - from grapes grower to winemakers.

Texas is fortunate to have such a committed group of talented people striving for the same goal: producing high quality grapes and selling great Texas wines. Texans are proud people and if given the choice, would prefer to buy Texas made products. With a focus on increasing awareness for Texas wines and improving the state's reputation for quality, the opportunities for Texas producers interested in diversifying into new agricultural crops such as grapes is limitless.

This is a very exciting time for the Texas wine industry! I invite you to use this Web site as a roadmap and valuable tool as you learn about the Texas wine industry. As proud Texans, we can keep the Texas wine industry moving forward and on the forefront of Texas agriculture for years to come.
