Joe & Dee Lynn Braman, Owners

Joe Braman’s family roots run deep in the rich, fertile soil of South Texas. They spread throughout ranching, real estate and oil in pure “Everything’s bigger in Texas” fashion. With such a strong family tree, why would Joe decide to vine? In a name: Mary. As Joe’s grandmother, Mary was first to see and develop Joe’s natural cooking talents. The time they spent together was one part learning and one part love of all things culinary, especially the importance of wines and pairings. This life compass has guided Joe through culinary school and some of the finest kitchens in the world. Like Texas, Joe’s ambitions for his winery are big. There are lots of unexplored tastes in the world of wine. Braman Wines will navigate you to the best, paired to occasion as much as to meal. This will be the Braman Legacy. Please join us in our tasting room to enjoy our selections of wines and kinship.

Located in Giddings, between Austin and Houston on Highway 290, Lehm Berg Winery originated from a tradition of producing wines using old family recipes handed down through generations. Lehm Berg means “clay hill” in German and conveys the German setting for this unique family home that was built in 1927 using handmade red clay bricks fired in the down-draft kiln still located on the property. The home was restored and converted into a winery that features wines made from local Wild Mustang grapes and other specialty wines. Our tours and tastings offer a unique blend of history and traditional wine making.

Yes, our name came from our purple possum. A young possum knocked over a bucket of crushed grapes on the porch and dyed himself a very distinguished shade of purple. We are the only winery in Texas which specializes in the ancient drink of Kings, the original alcoholic beverage: Mead. Mead is made from fermented honey rather than grapes. Our meads come in a variety of styles and varieties. Our Cranberry Mead has won a number of awards, including taking a first place at the Grapefest People's Choice Awards two years running. We are a modest establishment, with a tasting room open on weekends and holidays 10-6, or call ahead for appointments any old time. We are located just outside Navasota off FM 3090.

At the White House Winery, we are pleased to offer our premier class of wine to the citizens of the great state of Texas. The winery derives its name from the Texas White House in Stonewall, which served as Lyndon B. Johnson’s presidential office. During the late 1950s, the Hahne family was instrumental in the redesign and reconstruction of the Texas White House. The winery is being built to resemble that structure, which still stands on the LBJ Ranch today. Visitors can experience the history of the Johnson family through a photo gallery owned by Gary K.
